“Promote intellectual and social culture events”.

The Pharr progress Club was organized on 1923. It was the oldest women’s organization known to be active. The organization lead by a group of women and long time service providers to the community began its first project in early 1920’s. This first project began with sponsorship of the Pharr Library providing furnishings and staff to open to the public.
Promoting of social and cultural events was the passion and force that drove this group of ladies to make a difference in our community, and contribute literacy opportunities to our community.
